Introduction
Mullayanagiri is one of the least discovered, least visited, least crowded fabulous hill station in Karnataka. It is the highest peak in Karnataka with an elevation of about 1925 to 1930 meters in the Western Ghats. It is located in the Chandra dhrona hill ranges near chikkamagaluru or also known as chikkamagaluru district.It is a part of baba budan giri range and offers stunning panoramic view of surrounding coffee plantations, forests and distant hills.
Why mulayanagiri is so attractive
Mullayanagiri is a popular destination for trekking enthusiasts and nature lovers, it is known for its scenic drives, breath taking sunsets, and occasional glimpses of the Arabian sea on clear days.
Trekking trail (moderate to challenging) of about 3 kilometers passing temples, caves, streams and a Nandi statue.
Scenic narrow winding roads with steep cliffs and lush greenery
At the summit:
Small temple dedicated to sage mulappa swamy (with caves nearby where he is believed to have meditated)
The highest point in Karnataka marked by a small hillock in the temple compound.

How to reach mullyanagiri
Mullayanagiri is located about 20 to 26 kilometers from chikkmagaluru town in Karnataka.
From major cities:
From Bengaluru: 240 to 280 kilometers, 5 to 6 hours by road. Drive via NH75 to Hassan, then to chikmagalur.Buses and taxis are easily available.
By air: Nearest airport is Mangalore international airport of about 145 to170 kilometers.
By train: Nearest railway stations are kadur or birur junction, 35 to 45 kilometers from chikkmagaluru.From there, take a taxi or bus to chikmagalur.
From chikkmagaluru to mullayanagiri:
By road (recommended):Drive or hire a taxi or jeep. The route goes via Baba Budangiri road take left at kaimara,then left at y intersection to mullayanagiri.The ghat road has hairpin bends and offers beautiful views.
Parking and final stretch: Vehicles can reach near the summit, but during peak times or crowds, park at seethalayyangiri.
Trekking options: Starts from sarpadari 15 kilometers from chikkmagaluru 3 to 4 kilometer trek, 1.5 to 3 hours one way
Tip: Self-drive or hire a local taxi or jeep for flexibility. Roads are motorble but narrow and steep in the final stretch, SUVs are preferred. Start early for better views and fewer crowds.
